Kodi Strobel had an impressive debut wrestling with the Maple Ridge Ramblers at the Terry Fox Invitational, winning all three matches and taking a gold medal.

Joining Kodi on the highest podium were Cameron Hicks, Devin and Ciara McCrae and Payten Smith.

Smith won gold in typical undefeated fashion, and is in her third year of wrestling without a loss.

Olivia McDonnell wrestled well and won a silver medal, while Jacob Burgi, David Cameron and Greg Mckenzie all won bronze in their respective classes.

Austin Sheridan and Gaerth Bourke were unlucky not to place higher but finished fourth, while Tyler Dew-Adams (fifth) and Dionte Hurtado (sixth) rounded out the team scoring.

The Ridge wrestling team dominated the Upper Fraser Valley Novice championships last week at Queen Elizabeth secondary in Surrey.

The Ramblers gold medalists included Devin McCrae, David Cameron, Harden Tupper and Daniel Jo. Dionte Hurtado won a silver medal, while Wolfie Walace, Austin Brown, Jack Dillen and Aslan Altinary each won bronze.

Mathew Sillanpaa and Marko Kolobara contributed to their team scores, with fourth-place finishes.
