The Ridge Meadows midget C4 team won the Pacific Coast Tier 2 banner Tuesday at Planet Ice with a 5-1 victory over Port Moody.
Jordan Lindgren scored three times for the Rustlers, while Mark Gautreau netted a pair.
With the win, the Rustlers capped off a perfect post-season, going 9-0 after amassing a 29-12-2 record prior.
Other members of the team include (forwards) Cam McCullough, Trevyn Shannon, Xanier St. Peter, Brad Townsend, Jed Rogers, Josh Holme, Kenny Conroy; (defense) Keenan Rae, Max Greaves, Nick Vance, Luc Bradley, Walker Mallory, Joel Lackey; (goalies) Jeff Sunshine and Brayden Anderson.
The team is coached by Randy Roberts and Jeff Bradley.
2nd place for host rink
The Golden Ears Winter Club hosted 12 teams for a mixed bonspiel last weekend, including two local intermediate teams and two novice ones.
In intermediate (over 10 years combined years experience), Team Reed of Golden Ears finished second among six teams. Team Nichols also represented Golden Ears.
Team Reed lost in the final by one point to a Seattle team with many more years of experience.
In novice (under 10 total years of combined experience), Team Dezura of Golden Ears placed fourth, just ahead of another local rink, Team Lingl.
Titans contend for provincials
The SRT Titans split a pair of senior boys’ AA basketball playoff games last week.
The Titans opened the Fraser Valleys in Chilliwack against traditional AA juggernaut Pacific Academy, losing despite a six-point lead at the half.
Titans head coach Scott Tomlin said his team just “ran out of gas” in the second half.
On Feb. 23, the Titans bounced back with a hard fought victory over the Burnsview Wildcats, 60-54.
The Titans were led by shooting guard Kaden Ball, who scored 20 points and had the Wildcats on their heels all night with his deadly outside shooting and slashing to the hoop.
Fellow seniors Dexter Steward, Connor McKellar and Brayden Slaughter also had 12,13, and 8 points, respectively.
The win set the Titans up for a rematch with Delview, Friday. The winner moves on to the consolation final to play for the last berth to the provincials.
