Sports briefs: Ladies golf tees off Tuesday mornings

An invitation is being sent to women of all ages to meet every Tuesday morning from April through to mid October...

An invitation is being sent to women of all ages to meet every Tuesday morning from April through to mid October with the Maple Ridge Ladies Golf Club. First tee time is 9 a.m. at the Maple Ridge Golf course at 20818 Golf Lane (east off 207th Street, south of the Lougheed). Women are invited play 18 or nine holes.

Bruins in playoffs

The Ridge Meadows Bruins will play in the third division rugby playoffs on Saturday, when they take on Burnaby Lake. The Bruins have gone 3-5 in league play, and will be on the road against the 7-0 Burnaby Lake team.

Flames spring showcase

The Flames Spring Showcase returns for 2016.  Registration is now open.

The Flames will be hosting their annual Spring Prospects Showcase from May 23-26 at Planet Ice Coquitlam.  All ice sessions are during the evening. The club is looking for players who are interested in playing Junior hockey, and accepting players with 1996, ’97, ’98, ’99 and 2000 birth dates.

Players will participate in three games and will have an exit interview at the conclusion of the camp.
