West Coast Auto Group Football Club has been chosen as the recipient of the B.C. Soccer President’s Award for 2011-2012.

The President’s Award is presented to a league, district, or club in recognition of exceptional achievement in the presentation of a community event. The club was nominated and selected by the B.C. Soccer Board of Directors in recognition of the fundraising efforts by the club in providing $3,500 to the Haitian Women’s National Soccer Team to assist them with expenses during their participation in the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament.

“We are thrilled to have our club recognized by B.C. Soccer for this prestigious award,” said club president, Chris Begg. “We are especially proud of the fact that some of our younger club members and their coaches were the ones who were primarily responsible for taking the initiative and starting the campaign to raise funds for the Haitian Women’s National Team.”

The award was presented to Begg and club coach Jamie Schwingenschloegl who led the fundraising efforts, last Saturday during the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 win over Colorado.
