The Maple Ridge Concert Band is looking for new members and will be holding auditions in September.

A free information and demonstration session is going to be held for the All Beginners Concert Band, or the ABC band, which is the perfect place for both teens and adults with no experience to be introduced to everything they need to get started, including learning how to read music.

Through this program concert band teacher and conductor Geeta Das will provide instruction in the flute, clarinet; oboe, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone baritone, tuba, non-electric string bass, and concert band percussion.

The free session is to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Westview Secondary School, 20905 Wicklund Ave. in Maple Ridge in room 1173.

And this is where the band will hold their weekly sessions, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

High school auditions are also set to take place for those aged 12 to 18 years – in particular all woodwind, brass, and percussion players.

Auditions will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the Westview Secondary band room at 20905 Wicklund Ave. in Maple Ridge.

All three bands rehearse at Westview Secondary with the Intermediate band meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, and the Performance Band at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
