The Maple Ridge Public Library is hosting a free High Tea Party for Seniors’ Week.

Guests at the tea will be treated to a live performance by the Silvertones Choir and readings or original works by members of the Greystone Writer’s Group.

It will be a great opportunity to relax and socialize with some tasty treats and a nice cup of tea.

Last year more than 50 seniors attended the event.

The event is being hosted by the Friends of the Library and the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Katzie Seniors Network.

In an official proclamation in October 2002, the province declared the first week of June moving forth as Seniors’ Week. The week is now an annual event starting on the first Sunday of June, June 2-6 this year.

The Office of the Seniors Advocate BC notes online that it is a time to celebrate seniors and their many contributions. And it is an opportunity for the younger generations to acknowledge and celebrate the integral part seniors play in communities across the province.

Seniors’ Week High Tea Party takes place 1-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at Maple Ridge Public Library, 22470 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge.

Seniors interested in attending must register at: https://SeniorsHighTea.eventbrite.ca or by calling 604-786-7404.
