Triumphant Trios will be taking front and centre for the Sunday Chamber Music Series this weekend at the ACT.

David Gillham will be on violin, Eric Wilson on the cello, and Chiharu Iinuma on piano for the concert which features the works of three renowned composers.

The concert will feature the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, Bedrich Smetana, and Felix Mendelssohn – starting off with Shostakovich’s Piano trio No 1 in c minor Op. 8, from 1924, then Smetana’s Piano Trio No 1 in g minor Op. 15 from 1855, and concluding with Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No 1 in d minor Op. 49 from 1839.

This season’s Sunday Chamber Music Series, curated by Gillham, has a focus on works of genius by child prodigies who grew into amazing adult composers.

The series culminates with a performance by the Viano Quartet on April 28.

Triumphant Trios takes place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, on the Mainstage Theatre at the ACT Arts Centre, 11944 Haney Place, Maple Ridge.

Tickets are $25 plus fees.
