Did you volunteer with the Maple Ridge Fire Department?

The Maple Ridge Fire Department is looking for past members to attend an open house at the newly renovated Fire Hall No. 1 (22708 Brown Avenue) on Saturday, June 11, 4-8 p.m.

If you were a member or know of someone who was a member, please call Connie at 604-476-3052 or email at chol@mapleridge.ca.

Fire Hall No. 1 originally opened at its current location in 1970.

As the department grew from volunteer model in 1946 to paid on-call members in 2001 and finally  a composite of career and paid-on-call crews in 2005 – the department outgrew the original building.

The 37-year-old structure and a new building are now joined together to make a much larger fire hall, now 22,600 square feet.

The building has a silver LEED certification because of its green features.
