Help stuff food bank shelves

The Friends in Need Food Bank is asking for help stuffing its shelves for Thanksgiving.

The B.C. Thanksgiving Food Drive is a province-wide project organized to stock local food banks with essential items for those using its resources.

More than 700 people a month use the local food bank.

Volunteers will be delivering donation bags the week of Sept. 11 to residential addresses wishing to contribute non-perishable food items.

On Sept. 17, volunteers will return to pick-up filled bags.

“To make the process easier, we are coming to them in hope this will generate more goodwill,” said Daniel Bill, chair for Fraser Valley Food Drives.

Residents who do not receive a donation bag can drop off contributions to the BCTFD donation centre at 11750 – 207 Street, Maple Ridge, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on  Sept. 17.
