The Maple Ridge Garden Club is celebrating their diamond jubilee this weekend, and they’re doing it in style by hosting a summer soiree.

First established back in 1948, this garden club has since blossomed into a thriving community of both novice and experienced gardening enthusiasts that promote the idea of ‘healthy’ gardening, explained club member Colleen McParland.

“Our membership is growing each month as there is an increase in residents interested in gardening,” said McParland. “We have close to 200 members and are the largest garden club in the Lower Mainland, if not in B.C.”

The summer soiree celebration on Saturday, July 15, is taking place along the Alouette River, where club members will have a chance to mingle and reflect on the club’s 75-year history.

The Maple Ridge Garden Club meets every third Wednesday at the Fraserview Village Hall at 7 p.m. More information on the club is available at www.mrgardenclub.wixsite.com/mapleridgegardenclub.
