Maple Ridge school board wants to hear ideas on budget

Public forum on the topic set for this Monday at Thomas Haney secondary

School District No. 42 will holding a public feedback forum Monday, 7 p.m. at Thomas Haney secondary, allowing parents to have a say in what they would like included in the district’s 2012/13 budget.

The district wants to know  what areas they feel should be a funding priority and if they have any suggestions for efficiencies or cost savings.

District staff is predicting an enrollment decline equivalent to 258 full-time students for the next school year. Provincial school funding is tied to enrollment.

While the district will have less funding to count on, the 2012/13 budget likely won’t see as harsh of cuts as in previous years, according to staff.

The forum takes place in Room 2031 - 2034 at Thomas Haney secondary, (23000 - 116th Avenue).
