There will be an open house and half-price adoptions at the Maple Ridge branch of the BCSPCA this Saturday, April 27.

It will be National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, and events include a colouring contest, tours, a toy drive, and a microchip clinic for pet owners.

The event will run from noon to 4 p.m., at the Maple Ridge branch of the SPCA which is located at 10235 Jackson Rd.

It is part of a province-wide initiative to increase adoptions, and includes 50 per cent off adoption animals at SPCAs across B.C. from April 25 until May 5.

The regular costs to adopt an adult dog from the Maple Ridge branch is $414, and an adult cat $194, and that would be cut in half.

The Maple Ridge branch is one of 41 SPCAs locations across the province that serve sick, neglected, abused, and homeless animals.
