Seniors Week had an early-kick off on Friday with a special performance by members of Variety Plus.
The Ridge Meadows Seniors Society theatrical group put on a tribute to retro TV called ‘Those Were The Days’.
“These talented seniors have absolutely outdone themselves with this latest show,” said Maria Perretta, executive director of the society.
“It’s a tribute to all those retro TV shows we all remember. The music and skits will bring back so many fun memories,” she said.
Variety Plus is always looking to attract new members in August and September for their twice-yearly shows – no auditions necessary.
There were two performances of this latest production, one on Friday and Saturday, both were sold out.
However, for the first time this year, they will be showing a recording of the show, theatre-style, on June 5. To reserve a seat call 604-467-4993 and then it’s just $5 at the door.

“The cast and crew have been working hard for months and the buzz around the Maple Ridge Seniors Activity Centre today for their opening day is truly remarkable. Every year I wonder, how are they going to top this one…. But they always do,” exclaimed Perretta.

This year B.C. Seniors’ Week takes place from June 2 to 8 with events across Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
