Meadowridge second in French public speaking competition

Maple Ridge Grade 12 student J.R. Zhang placed second for Grade 11 and 12 students in the Concours d’art Oratoire French public speaking competition held at SFU in Surrey.

A Meadowridge student is number two in the province for French public speaking.

Grade 12 student J.R. Zhang placed second for Grade 11 and 12 students across British Columbia and the Yukon.

The competition, put on by the Canadian Parents for French, called Concours d’art Oratoire was held at Simon Fraser University Surrey Campus on May 6.

The contest has been taking place for over 25 years.

The previous year more than 10,000 students from Grade 6 to 12 participated in competitions within their communities and 300 students participated in the Provincial Concours.

Meadowridge students Emma Hsu, Denise Zhu, Julianna Antepyan and Rosy Gu also earned spots in the public speaking event.
