Maple Ridge secondary’s annual “Drive Thru Food Drive” once again allowed members of the community to show their generosity.

The event took place Dec. 7 from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Students and staff collected non-perishable food items for the Friends in Need Food Bank. Another drive took place in the community the following Saturday.

In total, 2,843 items of food were collected, as was $428 cash.

“Our community was very generous indeed,” said Kris Crawford, at MRSS.

The drive-through event featured holiday music, Christmas lights and free hot chocolate, as well as Rambo, the school’s mascot, along with Santa Claus and students waving signs and thanking donors.

The school thanks everyone who donated.

“There was a great atmosphere outside. Thank you, as well, to the organizers and facilitators for making it happen.”

All proceeds go directly to the Friends in Need Food Drive.
