The community gathered together to celebrate local artists at the Vicuña Art Studio Winter Art Show, which studio director Dhanha Shin called a wonderful exhibition.
This annual art show featured 45 artists with an array of abilities, many of whom sold several pieces of their work at the Nov. 25 art show.
“The studio experienced a successful sale, totalling over $1,300,” said Shin. “Sixty per cent of the sale directly goes to the artists and 40 per cent goes to the studio for purchasing supplies.”
“Many of our artists’ friends and families visited as well as the local public supporting our studio and artists.”

Shin explained that the print cards and pottery sculptures were particularly big hits.
“Vicuña had five artists who showcased their uniquely formed pottery sculptures. These sculptures, crafted by hand, were fired in the kiln and painted with meticulous care.”

During the show, four of the studio’s artists completed live demonstrations of their art-making process, drawing in quite a crowd.
“Seeing their work displayed, recognized, and sold significantly boosts the artists’ self-esteem, leaving them happy and proud of their accomplishments,” said Shin.
Anyone looking to purchase some artwork from any of the studio’s dozens of artists can do so by contacting the studio at 604-465-7526 or vicuna@rmacl.org.
