Heritage Week in B.C. is coming up, and the Pitt Meadows Museum is on board with some new programming.

Heritage Week runs from Feb. 19 to 25, and this year’s theme is “Layer by Layer,” and the museum will present the layers of history in Pitt Meadows.

“Woven Through Time: The stories we tell” will focus on the historical layers of our community. Daily blog posts featuring some layers of Pitt Meadows’ past, starting with the Katzie First Nation, the Canadian Pacific Railway, and Heritage Hall and local government.

The week-long focus on heritage ends with an in-person event at the Museum (12294 Harris Rd.) with a layered stamp artwork those attending can create from 1-4 p.m.

Heritage Week is an annual event that takes place during the third full week in February. It celebrates and showcases local heritage across the province.

Every year, the non-profit group Heritage BC launches Heritage Week by choosing a theme and sending official posters to libraries, schools, municipal offices and politicians across the province.
