Rotary Ducks help more kids

An extra 25 per cent of the proceeds from the 2014 Rotary Duck Race will be donated to the local chapter of KidSport B.C.

This year, participating youth groups will be allocating 10 per cent of their ticket sales for the not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for children aged 18-years and under to put towards their registration fees and equipment.

The Meadow Ridge and Haney Rotary Clubs will be providing the remaining 15 per cent.

Local youth groups will still receive 90 per cent of their ticket sales.

Last year, $89,600 was raised for more than 30 youth groups, enabling 330 children participate in sports activities.

Tickets for the fourth annual event go on sale in May. Ducks will be $10 each and on sale until race time, Aug. 31. at 1 p.m.
