Maple Ridge's downtown will be a feast for the senses on Thursday nights, starting at supper time, 5 p.m., with the Summer Street Feast.
Dan Beitel, who runs the Hunger Management Food Truck, is bringing three such vehicles into Memorial Peace Park, starting this Thursday, so people can enjoy a variety of food, along with street performers and live music.
"This is a great event for families to come to the park and have a variety of fresh food options. If dad wants a food truck it's there. If mom wants sushi it's there. And maybe if the kids want pizza, it's there," said Beitel, who added that he's trying to create a Granville Island-style spot.
"The idea is to bring people into the downtown core of Maple Ridge on Thursday nights. I am hoping that the local community of businesses will embrace this event."
The event is being put on by the Fraser Valley Food Truck Association, a nonprofit organization.
The Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association supports the food truck night and is asking local businesses to extend their hours on Thursday evenings.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 pm.
