Ron Gillies had his camera ready Dec. 7 when a whale approached his boat in Blaine, WA.
“I could almost reach out and touch it,” Gillies posted to Facebook, along with a video of the mammal. “Down on the boat today when this whale popped up right behind our boat.”
Whale sightings are rare in Semiahmoo Bay, but they do occur.
Earlier this year, a pod of five whales were spotted off the shores of White Rock.
