Arts event promotes social change

Social and environmental groups from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows are holding an event, designed to empower and encourage social transformation this Saturday.

The event at 26333 Grant Ave.  from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. will feature artwork by local artist Janis Eaglesham, yoga and tai chi demonstrations, poetry readings, live music, henna tattoos, face painting and a butterfly release among many other activities.

There will be a kids’ corner set up where children can do storytelling and create art.

Members of Environmental School Project, CEED Centre, GETI, Free The Children and Women for Women International will be on hand to promote the message of social transformation.

The event is free; however, donations will be accepted and will benefit Women for Women International and other organizations.
