Legendary rapper Ice Cube coming to Abbotsford

Feb. 20, 2024 is set to be a good day for Ice Cube fans in Abbotsford.

The legendary rapper, songwriter and founding father of N.W.A. is bringing his Straight Into Canada tour to the Abbotsford Centre on that aforementioned day.

This will be the second time that the Los Angeles-born entertainer will perform in the Fraser Valley. He was the headlining performer in the ‘Wack April 12 rap show in Chilliwack back in 2011.

Ice Cube, born O’Shea Jackson, formed the N.W.A. with Eazy E and Dr. Dre in 1987. He was the lead rapper in the influential group and wrote the majority of the group’s lyrics.

He left the group in 1989 and launched a solo career and has released 11 albums in that time. He has sold more than 10 million albums during his career. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

Ice Cube is also known for his active film career. He made his cinematic debut with 1991’s Boyz n the Hood. He went on to star in the Friday series of movies, Anaconda, Three Kings, the Barbershop movies, 21 Jump Street and many more.

He also directed the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary titled Straight Outta L.A., which told the tale of the Raiders time in L.A. and Oakland as well as the rise of gangsta rap in that region.

Abbotsford and Pentiction (Feb. 21) are the lone B.C. stops on the tour.

Ice Cube will also make Canadian stops in Calgary, Enoch, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Rama and Saint John.

General public tickets for the show go on sale on Friday (Nov. 10) at 10 a.m.
