The hunt is on for local musicians interested in performing outdoors this summer.

Maple Ridge Museum & Archives put out a call Sunday for musical artists to participate in the heritage group’s popular Music on The Wharf series for 2022.

There are four spots available again for the summer community concerts.

Last year’s concerts featured The Cat Murphy Band, Linda Szentes & Jazzlinks, Norine Braun, and Happy Hour.

Since 1997, this free (by donation) concert series has taken place – all but one year on the Port Haney Wharf.

Sadly, due to the pandemic, it was cancelled in 2020 – for the first time in more than two decades.

Last summer, organizers were able to restart the concert series. But due to COVID restrictions limiting attendance, the event was adapted and relocated to Memorial Peace Park, in the centre of downtown, explained museum executive director Shea Henry.

More than 500 people attended these concerts and several hundred dollars in donations were raised for the Maple Ridge Historical Society.

This year’s concert dates are set for July 11 and 25, as well as Aug. 8 and 22.

A $500 honorarium is offered to each musical group.

Applications from interested musicians are accepted until 5 p.m. on Feb. 15 at mrmeventplanner@gmail.com. Other details and criteria are outlined on the museum webpage.
