A new floor-to-skylight mural was unveiled recently at Webster’s Corners elementary.

Painted by local artist Jason Craft, it was a continuation of a piece he painted on the walls of the school’s entranceway in January.

The new artwork consists of tall evergreens, eagles, butterflies, an apple tree, fox, bear, cougar, raccoon, horses, a wildcat and a blue sky, dotted with clouds.

The inspiration for the artwork came from student drawings reflecting the school’s natural surroundings.

Craft also included 10 small bear footprints that students have to search for.

Webster’s Corners principal Ramin Mehrassa has been a fan of Craft’s work since they met at Laity View elementary, where the gym was painted with a giant lion mural by Craft.

Also included in the new mural at Webster’s Corners is the school’s philosophy: “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all – Aristotle.”

Funding for the project came from the school’s parent advisory committee and a new mural for the gym is already being planned.
