Burlesque and Bollywood, circus and drag, merge in Maple Ridge

A vaudeville-style variety show featuring burlesque, Bollywood, and the circus, is taking place at the ACT.

Presented by Des Cirque Morts, Crossroads Cabaret and Vaudeville is described as a fully immersive experience and this show, called Movie Night, is inspired by popular movies and television shows.

Richie T Kruel, aka Richard Meen, is set to host the show which will include circus performers: Cirque Des Morts Vaudeville Society; Sasha Sapphire; Lola Loops; and Agatha Angina.

The burlesque arts will feature: Malandro, in drag; Melody Mangler; and Forrest Rump.

Phyllis Hull will be performing in drag, John Ennis Graham the third will be presenting his puppetry skills, Bollywood dancers Bellywood Beats will be performing, and Shar Star will be giving a pre-show in flow arts.

Tarot readings will also be taking place with Dallas.

The show is produced by artistic director Savannah Rouge, and events and marketing director Jenny Bonnycastle.

“Come see the creatures of the darkness delight and amaze,” reads promotional material online. “It will only cost you your soul.”

The show takes place at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 8, at the Studio Theatre at the ACT Arts Centre, 11944 Haney Place, Maple Ridge. Doors open at 7 p.m. when guests are invited to be amazed by ambient performers.
