The Pitt Meadows Art Gallery is set to reopen on March 12 at the South Bonson Community Centre, featuring a local artist of increasing renown.
The first exhibition, Rain’s World – Whispers of the Ancestors: Echoes of Timeless Art will feature work from Rain Pierre, a Katzie First Nation artist, and his RainAwakens team.
The exhibit will run until April 5, and will be open to the public Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free admission.
An additional immersive experience of the Rain’s World exhibition featuring larger pieces from his collection will be available to view upstairs during gallery hours. Tickets for the daytime show are available at the art gallery. Information about seven special evening shows are available on Eventbrite. The artist will be in attendance at the evening events.
The art gallery closed at its Harris Road location, as the site is being used for a new RCMP detachment building, and now has a new home.
Pierre is one of the most celebrated artists in the community, whose art has been chosen to open the new gallery.

He is an artist, international speaker and owner of RainAwakens. He works as an advocate for First Nation people, LGBTQ2S+ and those in recovery.
“When I look back on my journey at the end of my days, I want to look back on an adventure glowing with legacy and passion,” he said. “I want to inspire others to dream while they are awake. It is time for our internal compass to turn to a direction of spirit, rather than money.”
