A Maple Ridge theatre group is searching for talent.

The Emerald Pig Theatrical Society is hosting auditions for the production Terms of Endearment.

One audition night was already held on Jan. 31, and another is coming up this weekend, on Sunday, Feb. 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Albion Community Centre (24165 10th Ave.)

There will be callbacks by invitation on Tuesday evening, Feb. 6.

“We would love to see some more people,” said director Angela Bell in social media. “If you have any questions, you can send an email to emeraldpigdirector@gmail.com.”

“As is typical with community theater, we would love to see a few more men come out to play,” Bell added. “There are a couple of smaller rolls if you’re not looking for a big commitment, but would love to dip your toes into the world of theatre, or even learn a little bit about what it’s like.”

Terms of Endearment, adapted for the stage by Dan Gordon, is based on the book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Larry McMurtry and James L. Brooks’s screenplay of the Oscar-winning film. The 1984 movie featured Oscar peformances from Shirley MacLaine and Jack Nicholson.

Terms of Endearment will be the Emerald Pigs group’s entry into the 2024 Fraser Valley Zone Festival by Theatre BC.

The production will run at the Albion Community Hall on May 1 to 5, and the Heritage Hall in Pitt Meadows from May 8-12.

All cast must become members of Emerald Pig Theatrical Society.
