The Ridge Meadows South Asian Cultural Society hosted its 15th annual charity gala, and the sold-out event attracted more than 250 guests from various backgrounds, and raised an impressive $15,000 to benefit Ridge Meadows Hospital.

Society spokesperson Dr. Tanbir Sindhar said the fusion of South Asian music, dance, and comedy captivated the guests, many who arrived in colourful traditional South Asian clothing. The event has created a tradition as a great culinary experience, and the 15th anniversary gala featured an array of “exquisite” Indian dishes, and “was a memorable and delicious experience for the attendees,” she said.

“It was excellent – from what I hear from guests, it was one of the best galas,” added society president Simi Khanna.

Now, she said the executive is getting ready to donate $15,000 to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, which works to provide the best possible equipment for the local health care facility.

“It was exciting and inspiring to see the community unite in a collective effort to make a difference in the lives of those in need,” said Sindhar.

The society has been in existence since 2007, and has been strongly committed in fostering cross-cultural understanding, and creating a vibrant community that values diversity and cultural exchange. The gala evening was themed to kick start the festivities in celebrating the 150th anniversary of Maple Ridge – a journey of resilience, growth, and community spirit, Sindhar said.
