Firefighters extinguish camper blaze in Mission

Emergency Support Services called to provide resources to 2 people living in RV

A shorthanded Mission Fire Rescue Service (MFRS) extinguished a camper fire on Dewdney Trunk Road on Friday morning (May 3).

The RV had two people living in it and Emergency Support Services attended to provide resources, according to scanner information. One person suffered minor injuries.

Firefighters were called to the scene after 10:30 a.m. However, many MFRS members were participating in wildfire training at Hoover Lake.

MFRS Station 3 attended and Maple Ridge Fire was also paged for support before being called off. BC Emergency Health Services, Mission RCMP and BC Hydro attended as well.

Scanner information indicates the blaze spread to a nearby shack, but firefighters were able to knock it down and extinguish it.
