A Maple Ridge realtor is bringing back his food drive for the Friends in Need Food Bank, which he hopes will be even more successful this year.

Harby Bhandal hosted the inaugural Harby Realty Food Drive last November, where many locals turned up to donate armfuls of food.

“Last year we were able to collect over 700 pounds of food within a span of two hours,” said Bhandal.

Building off the success of the first food drive, Bhandal is hosting his second annual fundraiser on Oct. 15.

“We all know or heard of someone who’s cried out for help with food,” said Bhandal. “This is a way to help these families, and to support our community.”

Although the food drive is willing to accept any non-perishable food, there are certain items that Bhandal said are particularly in need right now.

This includes granola bars, juice boxes, fruit cups, canned fruit and vegetables, canned tomatoes, Boost and Ensure protein shakes, canned meat and fish, and Kraft Dinner and Sidekicks.
