Memorial Peace Park is going to look a little bit different for the next few Saturdays as the City of Maple Ridge recently launched its Social Saturdays initiative.

This pilot project will see the traffic loop that goes around the park temporarily shut down each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The city explained that this is meant to help create a pedestrian-friendly environment and encourage people to participate in more outdoor recreational activities in the park.

While the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre and The ACT Arts Centre will still be open during this time, vehicle access will only be available through the underground parking lot via Dewdney Trunk Road or Edge Street.
