More than $730,000 was raised in RONA Foundation’s inaugural ‘Home Sweet Home’ campaign across Canada to benefit charities in various communities.

The campaign ran from Sept. 1 to Oct. 9, at RONA stores across the country, from B.C. to Ontario.

The organizations benefiting from the campaign were each selected by the local RONA teams, prioritizing those that support victims of domestic violence and their children, low-income families, and people with special needs or mental health issues.

Maple Ridge’s RONA store picked Cythera Transition House Society for it’s campaign, because it supports women and youth who have experienced violence in their lives, explained store manager Rob Tavares.

“We thought it was important to support this local non-profit since Cythera provides a variety of programs and services to women, children, and youth who have experienced domestic abuse and violence, including transitional housing, counselling, and support and access to additional resources for those affected in our local community,” Tavares said.

A total of $1,714 was raised for Cythera.

Participating stores located in the Lower Mainland included Langley, Maple Ridge, Surrey, Abbotsford, Mission, and Chilliwack.
