This Sunday’s community meal provided by The Salvation Army Ridge Meadows Ministries will look a bit different in celebration of Easter.

Executive director Dave Macpherson explained that while special meals are common for every holiday, providing meals to those in need is nothing new for the Ridge Meadows ministries.

“We started in the fall as an extreme weather response shelter and opened up to anyone, which we’ve continued since then and plan to keep doing through the summer,” said Macpherson.

“We see folks who aren’t necessarily staying in our shelter but just need an extra hand feeding their families.”

While he didn’t give away the specific menu items for the Easter Sunday meal, he did say that people should expect a tasty plateful.

“Our chef is great and used to work on a cruise ship, so he knows how to make things fun and fancy,” said Macpherson.

He also expressed that services like this are vital for the community, especially during financially tough times.

“With the cost of everything rising, we’ve seen a lot more people using all of our services,” he said. “It’s getting harder and harder for people to feed themselves and their families.”
