Maple Ridge forward Adam Konowalchuk has signed with the Coquitlam Express of the BC Hockey League.

The 17-year-old has been playing with the Coquitlam HC U18, and had a season with the Ridge Meadows Flames in 2022-23, when he had two goals and nine points in 38 games. This year, Konowalchuck has turned heads with six goals and 32 points in 24 games with Coquitlam HC.

“We are thrilled to have Adam join our organization,” said Tali Campbell, general manager of the Express. “He is a highly skilled player with a great work ethic that is unmatched. We believe he has a bright future ahead of him and we are excited to see him develop within our program.”

The club announcement said Konowalchuk has already displayed a level of maturity and hockey IQ that is beyond his years, and that Konowalchuk has the potential to become a key contributor in the BCHL.

“I am super excited and proud to sign with the Express,” said Konowalchuk. “This is something I have been working towards for a long time and I can’t wait to keep chasing my hockey dreams with the Coquitlam Express in the BCHL.

“It will also be awesome to play close to home with the support of friends and family nearby. I want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point in my hockey journey.”

Konowalchuk is the Coquitlam Express’ first announced signing for the 2024-25 season. The team has a record of 16-15-1-1 so far this season.
