A former Pitt Meadows player has once again cracked the top 10 of the CFL Scouting Bureau list, putting him in a great spot for the upcoming 2024 CFL National Draft.

Giovanni Manu has been an offensive lineman for the UBC Thunderbirds for several years now, but started his playing career at Pitt Meadows Secondary.

Since joining the Thunderbirds, Manu has had a spotlight on him, making multiple editions of the CFL Scouting Bureau top-20 prospects lists.

The most recent edition is no exception, with Manu being listed as the number nine top prospect in the winter list, which is a slight drop from last fall, where he was listed as number eight.

The offensive lineman had previously opted out of the 2023 draft in order to finish his degree and get another shot at winning the Hardy Cup.

When the Thunderbirds once again found themselves in the conference championship in the 2023 season, they didn’t let the title slip away like last time.

Manu and his teammates were able to grind out a 28-27 win against the University of Alberta to take the Hardy Cup.

They then continued their winning streak, advancing all the way to the national championship, but were stopped short of winning the Vanier Cup, suffering a 16-9 loss against the Université de Montréal.

But with his goal of winning the Hardy Cup now achieved, Manu can look toward his future as a possible CFL player, with the 2024 CFL National Draft scheduled to take place sometime this spring.
