The Ridge Meadows Burrards girls teams won two gold medals and a bronze, as the field lacrosse provincial championships were held in Burnaby over the weekend of Feb. 24-25.

The Burrards U17 team came in as the fifth seeded team, but beat the second-ranked Langley Thunder in the semi-final. They then went on to upset the top-ranked New Westminster Salmonbellies in the gold-medal game.

The U15 girls also won gold. They took three out of four games in the round-robin part of the tournament and beat the Coquitlam Adanacs in the final.

The U13 girls took bronze, beating New West in the medal match.

The weekend capped off a great season of field lacrosse, that saw the organization take four provincial championships and four bronze medals at all age groups.

• The Burrards are now offering a Spring Shooting Stars program aimed at children born in 2020 and 2021.

The objective is to get the kids started with skills through fun games. It will run from March 25 to April 25, Mondays and Thursdays, from 5-5:45 p.m. at the Thomas Haney box.
