Bank machine stolen in from Pitt Meadows hotel

An automated banking machine was stolen early Thursday from the lobby of a Pitt Meadows hotel.

An automated banking machine was stolen early Thursday from the lobby of a Pitt Meadows hotel.

Two men walked into the Ramada Inn on Lougheed Highway around 2:20 a.m. and managed to hoist the ATM, which was not secured to the floor.

Ridge Meadows RCMP said the men loaded the 300-pound machine onto a white pickup truck.

Police suspect they used a dolly to wheel the machine out of the lobby.

Break-in

Construction tools and appliances were stolen from a Maple Ridge house early Tuesday.

The house on 214th Street was under renovation. Thieves entered the property by removing plywood from a broken window at the back of the house and climbing in.

Tools including a reciprocating saw, drills, roofing hammers and wrenches were stolen. A fridge and stove, light fixtures and several spools of copper wire were also taken.

 

Shoplifter

A man was arrested Tuesday for stealing meat and cosmetics from a Maple Ridge grocery store.

Around 8:45 p.m., a loss prevention officer at Save-On-Foods spotted the 41-year-old taking the items from the store and attempted to arrest him as he left Valley Fair Mall.

Police allege the man resisted arrest and dropped a package of meat and a cosmetic items before he ran into the parking lot, where he drove off in a stolen car.

Cpl. Alanna Dunlop said police were given a good description of the vehicle and an officer with the RCMP's Police Dog Services found it on 225th Street, south of the Lougheed Highway.

The man was arrested without incident.

Police are recommending theft charges, in addition to charges of possessing stolen property and a dangerous weapon.

The man was held for a court appearance on Wednesday.

 

Boat stolen

A 12-foot aluminum boat was stolen over the weekend in Maple Ridge.

The boat was stored outside a home on 117th Avenue. It is silver grey and maroon and was not on a trailer at the time of the theft.
