Bear romping through Haney tranquilized

A black bear that was spotted in the residential neighbourhoods of Haney on Thursday afternoon was tranquilized and relocated.

Maple Ridge RCMP Special Constable Terrillon swats bees away from a tranquilized bear. The animal had disturbed a hive just before he was put to sleep by conservation officers.

A black bear that was spotted in the residential neighbourhoods of Haney on Thursday afternoon was tranquilized and relocated.

Ridge Meadows RCMP received reports about the bear, and moved in to ensure there were no bear/human conflicts. A Conservation officer soon arrived on scene, and was able to put the bear to sleep near the Haney Bypass, in the 2200 block of 117th Avenue.

The bear was relocated to the Mission area and released into the wild.
