Amanda Todd's mother wants to see in person the man accused of 'sextortion' against the late teen.
Carol Todd also wants to show solidarity with the 39 alleged victims and their parents when Aydin Coban goes on trial in the Netherlands later this month.
He faces child pornography and extortion charges.
Carol Todd is planning to attend court to prepare herself for Coban's Canadian trial for cyberbullying her daughter.
"It's important for me to prepare myself emotionally. It's going to be a difficult experience," said Todd.
The 36-year-old man is facing five charges in Canada, including extortion, Internet luring, criminal harassment, as well as possession and distribution of child pornography.
No date for his appearance has been set.
Todd said seeing Coban "face to face" is important.
"It all started online for Amanda. It was a person [allegedly] luring her and grooming her."
None of the charges against Coban have been proven in court.
Amanda Todd posted a video on Youtube called "My story: Struggling, bullying, suicide, self harm." On hand-written placards, the 15-year-old described how she had been bullied online and at school. She died in October 2012.
She lived most of her life in Port Coquitlam. She lived in Maple Ridge and attended school here for about a year, but moved again to avoid her tormentors.
In the seventh grade, she had been convinced to show someone a revealing image of herself.
[They] called me stunning, beautiful, perfect, etc.," she states in the video. "[They] wanted me to flash … so I did."
That person then threatened to share the image, with her family and friends, unless she provided more revealing photos. When she refused, the images were shared with her Facebook friends, and even teachers and administrators at school. When she switched schools, the images were again shared, said her mother.
"When she entered a new school, they would follow her online."
She attended Westview and Maple Ridge secondary schools, then she moved to Coquitlam Alternative Basic Education.
Todd wants to attend the precedent-setting case in the Netherlands to let the other parents know she supports them and they are not alone.
"What those parents have gone through is beyond what any family should."
The Amanda Todd Legacy is a non-profit society with a mandate to prevent bullying and promote internet safety.
Through online crowdfunding, 143 people donated toward Carol's trip, and she was able to raise $10,000 to pay her travel expenses.
"I've been amazed at the support," she said. "It's unbelievable."
