Eight new traffic cameras in Ridge, Pitt

New cameras showing motorists the current weather and traffic conditions in a constantly crowded Lower Mainland.

Eight new cameras are now up and running in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, showing motorists the current weather and traffic conditions in a constantly crowded Lower Mainland.

These new cameras are in addition to 30 new webcams announced earlier this summer, bringing the number of webcam images available on DriveBC to more than 260 by the end of the year.

They’ll all be operating by winter, says a release from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

“The Lougheed Highway is one of this region’s busiest and most congested roads. These new webcams will let regular users and other travellers check for alternate routes and plan ahead for a safe trip,” said Transportation Minister Blair Lekstrom.

DriveBC (www.drivebc.ca) is the B.C. government’s most popular website and receives 2.9 million visits a month.
