Executive leadership voted in at Maple Ridge branch of the Royal Canadian Legion

A new executive committee has been elected for the Maple Ridge branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

An installation ceremony was held on Saturday, Jan. 8, at Branch 88, conducted by returning officer Sandi Wight and Sgt. at Arms Tom Gardner.

Al Casswell was re-elected as president, Judy Ballard as first vice, and Julie Drennan as second vice.

Executive officers are Jim Pinch, Dean Barbour, John Yoxall, Sherry Boudreau, Lynda McEwan, and Annette Davidson.

“They are volunteers, and as we know, volunteers make the world go round,” said secretary manager Lesley Nantel, thanking the executive leadership for their support of the branch.

“We are looking forward to a successful year ahead,” she added.

Nantel said the branch still holds karaoke every Thursday, there is live entertainment and meat draws from 5-9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday.

On Sunday, Feb. 13 from noon until 8 p.m. Legion Branch 88 is holding a Kick-Off Superbowl Sunday. there will be food and drink specials, the game will be broadcast on numerous televisions, BCLC football squares will be for purchase and also a meat draw, 50/50 and door prizes.

Membership for 2022 is $55.
