Two men, one with links to the Haney Hells Angels, have been charged with trafficking cocaine following a RCMP investigation that targeted the drug trade in Maple Ridge.
In March 2011, the B.C. Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit started an investigation called E-Nuptials, targeting drug brokers and traffickers with links to the Haney chapter of the Hells Angels.
“The objective was to disable drug-based trafficking activity in the Lower Mainland and, in particular, the Maple Ridge area,” Sgt. Bill Whalen said.
Police allege that one of the accused was seen exchanging a package with another man. Police arrested both men and seized a kilogram of cocaine.
They each now face charges.
Kristopher Pfeifer, 31, of Maple Ridge, believed to be an associate of the Haney Hells Angels, is charged with trafficking in cocaine.
Constantinous Anthony, 48, from Chilliwack, is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
They made their first court appearance July 20, and were released on conditions.
“Biker gangs are no different from other organized crime groups that often distance themselves from direct criminal activity by using associates to facilitate their crimes,” Whalen added. “Even though these groups use non-members to conduct their criminal business, it’s the members of these groups that benefit the most.”
The Haney chapter, established in June 1987, celebrated its 25th anniversary this year at its club house on McKechnie Road in rural Pitt Meadows.
