Man attacked at Maple Ridge gas station

A man remains in hospital with serious head injuries following an assault early Sunday at a gas station in Maple Ridge.

Police responded to a report of a fight taking place at the Husky on Dewdney Trunk Road at 207th Street around 2:10 a.m.

Supt. Dave Walsh said when officers arrived, they found the 45-year-old man laying unconscious on the ground, with two friends trying to help him.

Paramedics with the B.C. Ambulance Service rushed the man to hospital.

"The victim remains in hospital in serious condition," Lench added.

A police dog was brought in and helped find a 34-year-old man who had fled the scene.

He was held in police custody for a first court appearance on Monday, May 2.
