A 21-year-old Maple Ridge man found with a backpack full of break-and-enter tools faces charges for breaching bail conditions.
A Ridge Meadows Mountie spotted the man and a friend riding bicycles early Monday in the 12400-block of 256th Street. Neither was wearing a helmet.
A search revealed that one man was carrying a number of tools which could be used to break into homes or businesses. The officer also learned that the man had recently been before the courts on charges of stealing wire from the same neighbourhood and was bound by bail conditions that prohibited him from being in possession of any tools.
The man was arrested and held for a court appearance later in the day.
A Maple Ridge man was arrested Friday after police found him in possession of illegal drugs during a traffic enforcement blitz.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were enforcing seat belt and distracted driving rules on the Haney Bypass when the 30-year-old was spotted using a cellphone.
Cpl. Alanna Dunlop said when a police officer approached the Mercedes SUV he noticed an odour of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Police allege cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, along with other items that are consistent with drug trafficking were seized from the car following a subsequent search.
The man, who is known to Ridge Meadows RCMP, has a court-ordered condition that prohibits him from possessing a cell phone.
Police arrested the man for breaching the condition and he was held over the weekend for a court appearance on Monday.
Three people, including a child, were sent to hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Maple Ridge Friday afternoon.
It occurred at 3:45 p.m. on 228th Street at Reid Avenue. Police said a car travelling north collided with a SUV, causing the latter to flip onto its side.
An air ambulance was called in by members of the B.C. Ambulance Service, and two men who were driving the vehicles were airlifted to hospital, while a young girl was taken by ambulance to Ridge Meadows Hospital.
Cpl. Alanna Dunlop said their injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
Speed is being investigated as a factor in the crash.
Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for the owner of a vending machine that was dumped near a Maple Ridge mall on Thursday.
The yellow, black and red vending machine, which sells various stickers, was found near the Shoppers Drug Mart in Westgate Centre on Lougheed Highway at 203rd Street.
Police believe the vending machine was stolen and disposed of at the location after thieves pried it open.
Police are recommending a charge of assault and uttering threats against a man who got into a tiff with a woman over a parking spot.
Police allege the confrontation took place around 9 a.m. Thursday after the woman noticed a car she felt was parked illegally in Cottonwood subdivision.
The woman was taking a photograph of the car when the owner approached her.
Cpl. Alanna Dunlop said the 46-year-old man allegedly hit the woman’s hand, knocking the cell phone out of it, and stated he would harm her. The woman was not injured in the confrontation and the cell phone was not damaged.
The man was taken to the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment where he was released on a promise to appear in court in October.
A Fender Stratocaster guitar and 500 Prada sunglasses were stolen from the trunk of a car in Maple Ridge on Wednesday.
Police said a man picked up the guitar from a store and stopped at the Haney Building Supplies store and Lordco Auto Parts on Dewdney Trunk Road before going home. He discovered the items were missing when he got home just before 4 p.m. on Sept. 14.
Police believe the theft took place at in the parking lot of Haney Building Supplies or Lordco sometime between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
RCMP are looking for a man who robbed a bank in Maple Ridge on Sept. 13.
Police were called to the TD Canada Trust branch in Valley Fair Mall around 7:50 p.m. after a man made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
The man got into the passenger seat of a red Honda Civic hatchback car which was last seen travelling west on Lougheed Highway.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, 6’0’’, with a slim build, short dark brown or black hair, a thin moustache and some facial hair under his bottom lip.
He was wearing a red wig, a black and white baseball hat and a black hooded sweatshirt with white writing and designs on the back.
There was no description of the driver of the getaway car.
Two car, a blue Brodie mountain bicycle, various tools and a quantity of dog food were stolen during a break-and-enter in Pitt Meadows last week.
Police said the theft on Streamstone Walk happened sometime between 11 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12 and 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
The home owners had left the garage door open.
One of the stolen vehicles, a Honda Ridgeline truck, has been found but a white 2010 Volkswagen EOS, with British Columbia licence plates 164XDX, is still missing.
Police are looking for a man who threw a rock through the window of a parked police cruiser last week.
The incident took place around 6:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12.
The man ran off after damaging the police car.
Officers patrolled the immediate area but failed to locate the suspect.
He is described as a white man, approximately 5-10 with a medium build, approximately 160 pounds with a red hat and short hair.
He did not have a shirt on, but was carrying a red shirt. He was last seen running east heading towards the Witch of Endor pub.
Ridge Meadows RCMP are hoping to find the owner of a stroller that was dropped off at the detachment last week.
The three-wheeled green and blue stroller was found in the area of 206th Street and 120th Avenue in Maple Ridge.
