Ridge Meadows RCMP are warning the public about a man who exposed himself in a neighbourhood where two women were sexually assaulted.
The man was seen around 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb.2 near the intersection of 240th Street and 102nd Avenue.
"According to witnesses, it appeared the man was sexually motivated," said Cpl. Alana Dunlop.
RCMP responded to the call quickly and brought in a police dog but were unable to find the man.
The suspect was described as 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 pounds with an athletic build, and was dressed in black clothing.
He was seen blocks away from a trail where two women were attacked in November.
On 26 Nov., a woman was grabbed by a masked man and sexually assaulted on the Vine Maple Trail, which runs east from the 10600 block of 240 Street to McClure Lane, in the Maple Crest sub-division.
He was described as being six feet tall and wore dark clothing.
On Nov. 7, a man wearing a balaclava grabbed the woman in her 20s from behind on a trail that leads from Zeron Avenue to the 10600 block of 240th Street.
Police, however, say it's too early to connect the incidents.
"There is nothing at this time to indicate this male is related to two assaults on women from November 2013, but it occurred in the same general area," said Dunlop.
As a precaution, police are reminding residents of 240th Street between Lougheed Highway and 109 Avenue to be vigilant.
"All citizens, mainly women, should ensure their personal safety," added Dunlop.
"Please do not walk alone, carry a cell phone or any device that can emit a loud sound, be wary of your surroundings, and not to wear headphones that will reduce your hearing.”
Ridge Meadows RCMP are increasing patrols in the neighbourhood but are asking residents to report any suspicious people or activity to police.
