Man stabbed in Maple Ridge

Airlifted to hospital with chest wound; suspects fled.


A man was stabbed in the chest during home invasion in Tuesday night in Maple Ridge.

Ridge Meadows RCMP were called to the house on 227th Street, near 121st Avenue, around 11 p.m. and found the man injured inside.

Police are not sure how many people forced their way inside the house. Property was stolen from the home but investigators won't say what was taken.

“Our investigation is in the beginning stages," said Supt. Dave Walsh, adding the house was not being used to grow marijuana.

"I know that some property was stolen from the home. Although we do not know the motive, this appears to be a targeted attack."

The injured man was airlifted to hospital and is expected to recover.

A police dog was brought in and searched the area but was unable to locate anyone. the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Services was also called in to collect evidence from the house.

Police are looking for a green 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier car with British Columbia licence plates 872 PSJ.
