The Shining Stars Daycare voluntarily closed.

A man accused of molesting children at a Maple Ridge daycare will stay in jail through Christmas.

A bail hearing for Latif Hamad Tata was postponed Wednesday and rescheduled for the New Year.

Tata, 37, faces two counts each of sexual interference of a person under 16, invitation to sexual touching and sexual assault.

The charges stem from alleged assaults against several young children who attended Shining Stars Daycare on 122nd Avenue, which was run by Tata’s wife.

Police have informed the Ministry for Children and Family Development, as well as the Fraser Health about the allegations.

Tata’s wife closed the daycare voluntarily and Fraser Health confirmed the facility will not reopen until a safety plan is put in place.

Ridge Meadows RCMP are asking parents whose children attended the Shining Stars Daycare to contact investigators at 604-463-6251 if they have concerns.

This business should not be confused with Shining Stars Montessori Daycare and Preschool in east Maple Ridge.

Tata’s bail hearing is set for Jan. 2.
