A Maple Ridge man has been arrested in the City of Trail for allegedly assaulting a person with a knife.

On Saturday, April 6, Trail and Greater District RCMP officers received a report that a 30-year-old Maple Ridge man, who was formerly a resident of the Kootenay municipality, had allegedly threatened and assaulted another person with a knife.

At the same time, witnesses reported that the man was driving erratically and speeding in a vehicle on a road in Trail.

Police say they quickly located the man and another person in the vehicle in downtown Trail. The officers arrested the man for possession of a prohibited weapon, assault with a weapon, unauthorized possession of weapon, and dangerous driving.

Police seized a weapon from the vehicle they believe to be associated with the alleged offences

The suspect was then detained into custody after a bail hearing before a Judge.
