Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows school board race set

In all, there will be 11 candidates on the ballot in Maple Ridge vying for five trustee seats, while three candidates are running for two seats in Pitt Meadows.

 

The race for who will represent Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows on the school board is set after the nomination period ended Friday.

In all, there will be 11 candidates on the ballot in Maple Ridge vying for five trustee seats, while three candidates are running for two seats in Pitt Meadows.

In Maple Ridge, incumbents Susan Carr, Ken Clarkson, and Dave Rempel will be running for reelection alongside a host of newcomers, and some familiar faces.

District Parent Advisory Council president Michelle Neale has decided to run for trustee, as have Gary Cleave, Cherie Delainey, Mary Flavelle, Kathy Marshall, Mike Murray, Rod Smelser, and Melanie Scott.

In Pitt Meadows, incumbent Eleanor Palis will be joined by newcomers Marcela Boggio and Sarah Nelson.

Civic elections take place Saturday, Nov. 19, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Advance polls are open Saturday, Nov. 5, and Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Maple Ridge municipal hall.

In Pitt Meadows, advanced voting will take place at Pitt Meadows city hall on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
