A man was pepper-sprayed during a home invasion Monday in Maple Ridge.

Police were called to a house on 116B Avenue around 2 p.m. after three men forced their way inside.

The man struggled with the trio and was pepper-sprayed, but managed to escape to a neighbouring house.

The thieves fled in a U-Haul truck, which police believe they have located. Investigators are currently examining the truck for evidence.

Police believe the home invasion was not a random act.

"Police want to thank all the citizens who have assisted them in their investigation to date," said Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.
